Internal Management Memoranda
EFFECTIVE DATE: December 1, 1993
INTERNAL MANAGEMENT MEMORANDUM NUMBER: 6C1-6.130-2 (Revised)
SUBJECT: IFAS; Testing of Materials
- Personnel of UF/IFAS are not to make tests of any substance
or material that is not reasonably identified with respect to
potential content. Testing unidentified substances hold the potential
hazards of endangering personnel or disclosing patented data. Routine
analytical tests of the nature readily performed by commercial
laboratories are not to be made by UF/IFAS for private use, unless the
resulting data supplement and/or complement existing research or
extension programs of UF/IFAS in a manner that adds value to the work.
- If analytical work (paid or unpaid) is done for any external
entity, in full or in part, by UF/IFAS personnel, UF/IFAS shall have
the privilege of using the results obtained as its own property and
in any way it deems in the public interest. No analytical work for
any outside agency or person is to be promised or made by personnel
of UF/IFAS without prior approval of the appropriate department chair
and functional dean.
- The above policy does not apply to those cases where a
formal memorandum of understanding is in effect.
